Maggie Galliers CBE

Biography

Maggie is Chair of the National Housing Federation, President of the Learning and Work Institute and an Advisor to the Royal Anniversary Trust. Her extensive experience at Board level in higher education has previously included membership of the Open University Council, the Board of Governors at Coventry University, the Teaching Excellence Framework Review Advisory Group and the HEFCE Teaching Quality and Student Experience Committee. She has also been an Associate Fellow at the University of Warwick, writing and delivering courses to Masters’ level.

A past President of the Association of Colleges, her executive career included sixteen years as Principal at Leicester College and Henley College Coventry which she carried out alongside non- executive roles on funding and regulatory bodies including being a member of Ofqual and the Learning and Skills Council. She was awarded a CBE in 2009 in recognition of her services to local and national further education and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Bedfordshire in 2013 for widening participation to Higher Education. Appointed as Pro Chancellor and Chair of the Council on 1st August 2021, she is honoured to be supporting the University to deliver on its mission to transform lives through inspiring, employment and profession focused education.
