Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2012, I was employed as a Senior Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) at a large teaching hospital in the Thames Valley region of the UK. Whilst undertaking this role I was able to specialise in care of paediatric patients in the operating theatre and was also an active member of the medical education simulation team.

Since gaining my registerable qualification with London South Bank University, I have undertaken further study, achieving a BSc (Hons), Postgraduate Certificate (Education) and am due to complete a master’s degree in psychology.

I am registered with the HCPC as an Operating Department Practitioner, I also hold a fellowship with Advance HE (FHEA).

My specialist knowledge and areas of interest are quite broad including anaesthetics, post-operative care, anatomy and physiology, resuscitation and paediatrics and as a result I was privileged to be part of a children’s craniofacial surgery team; one of only four centres in the country.

My career highlight at the university to date is winning the Academic/Tutor of the Year Award as part of the ‘Bucks Stars’ awards.
