Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2019, I toured internationally for twelve years as a dancer, choreographer and occasional dramaturg.

I hold a BA in Anthropology from Goldsmiths, University of London, where I specialised in visual anthropology and anthropological film-making, the knowledge from which influences my choreographic vision and frames many investigations into performative intersubjectivity.

Trained in contemporary and classical dance styles, I specialise in psycho-somatic approaches and site specific, multi-media and immersive choreographies. Additional skills include somatic bodywork practices, aerial and bungee choreography, acting, physical theatre, dance film, dance therapy, experimental writing practices and movement direction.

My specialist knowledge has led me to work collaboratively with award winning international artists and institutions as diverse as The Royal Academy of Art (London), Tate Modern (London), Spike Island (Bristol), Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Sadlers Wells (London), The Royal Dramatic Theatre Stockholm, The National Museum Stockholm, WELD (Sweden), STUK (Belgium), NOMAD, MMK2 (Germany), London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT), , Gothenburg Dance and Drama Festival, Salzburger Festspiele (Austria), The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre (London), FIERCE Festival (UK), Moderna Dansteatern Stockholm, Steierischer Herbst (Austria), Noorderzon (Holland), People’s Palace projects (UK), University of Central Europe Budapest (Hungary), Open Society Foundation and The Wuhan Foundation (South Korea).

In 2012, I was PALLABS Artist in Residence at The Sackler Centre for Consciousness Research, University of Sussex, investigating ongoing research in-to the neuroscientific mechanisms of consciousness and presence and immersive technologies in choreography. Other residencies have included: Liminality: Intercorpor-Reality & Ritual in Torreboda, Sweden; arts-science residency ‘Laboratory Life’ with Kira O’Reilly at The Lighthouse, Brighton (Welcome Trust); and Company in Residence with Feedback Theatre at Queen Mary University, London.

I am a member of Equity and The Dramaturgs’ Network.
