Francesco Cavaliere

Biography

I am an Architect and Designer, currently working at David Chipperfield Architects. During my academic years I tried to develop a varied design approach which is the reason why I’ve been studying in Siracusa, and UTL Lisbon for my Bachelor, and in Brazil UFSC and Politecnico di Milano for my Masters, from which I graduated in 2014.

In my previous professional experiences, I have been fully involved in the design process at Junya Ishigami in Tokyo, Kengo Kuma and Associates in Paris and Heatherwick Studios in London. I worked closely with the various teams in charge of the development of ideas, facing different scales and phases of the project, up to fabrication of a pavilion for the last Venice Biennale 2020(21).

I am strongly interested in pursuing spatial quality by defining a sensible interaction between volumes and natural light. More precisely, I constantly seek to determine a moment in which the light is powering-through an extra level of connection with the person/user, stimulating so different emotions. The search for a responsive involvement of a spectator with its surrounding, dynamic space become even more crucial than a mere volumetric gesture.
