Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2025, I worked in several different specialist roles within maternity, and I have over 16 years’ experience. I have enjoyed roles such as Labour Ward co-ordinator, Fetal Monitoring Midwife, OSCE Midwife, Practice Development Midwife and most recently a Patient Safety Midwife. Before qualifying as a midwife, I qualified and worked as a pharmacist. Having this varied background has allowed me to develop myself and understand midwifery from different viewpoints.
I studied for my BSc (Hons) Midwifery degree at the University of the West of Scotland and my pharmacy degree at Strathclyde University.
I am a registered midwife with the NMC and the Royal College of Midwives. I am also a Professional Midwifery Advocate and a Newborn Life Support Instructor registered with the Resuscitation Council.
My specialist area of interest is obstetric emergencies and how we can work as a team to provide the best patient care in these situations.
I feel honoured to have been present at the birth of so many babies throughout my career and I am proud to be developing the next generation of midwives.
I am excited to be starting my journey as an academic with BNU.
