Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in March 2025, I had various roles, but my background has always been in surgery. I spent many years working in the ward environment with my final years in the NHS spent in perioperative practice, main role as scrub nurse team leader. I have also worked on behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Competency Assessor at the Oxford Test Centre, enabling international nurses the opportunity to join our nursing register.
I began my education career at Coventry and Warwickshire School of Nursing and Midwifery in 1990 where I qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 1993.
I completed the Diploma of Higher Education in Healthcare (2003) and numerous accredited courses in relation to perioperative practice throughout my career.
I was recently awarded Associate Fellow in Higher Education (AFHEA) and I am also an Approved Trainer for the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training, Workforce Training and Education NHS England.
My proudest moment in clinical practice was working throughout the Covid 19 pandemic which demonstrated the commitment and teamwork of the NHS.
