Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2024, I was an Assistant Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana. Prior to that, I worked for nine years as a clinical midwife with the Ghana Health Service.
My academic background is in Midwifery, with a PhD from King’s College London, and an MSc from the University of Nottingham. I also hold a BSc from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a diploma from the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Sekondi, Ghana.
My research and teaching interests include evidence-based maternity care, the medicalisation of childbirth, newborn care, and midwifery education. I have served as a peer practice coordinator and previously headed a maternity unit within the Ghana Health Service. Additionally, I have served as an examiner for the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and participated in the review of the midwifery curriculum.
I am a member of the Royal College of Midwives and an Associate Fellow of Advance HE.
