Biography

I joined the social work team at Buckinghamshire New University as a full time lecturer in 2018. Prior to this, I began as an associate lecturer from 2013, balancing time between students and practice as a social worker with adults in the community. I have many years of practice across adult social work, with people who have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, mental health needs, older people and substance misuse. I have worked across a variety of settings, collaborating in statutory, health and voluntary agencies to advocate, empower and support individuals and families. Inevitably, my experience has led me to work with adults and children, people across the lifespan.

I studied for my Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), followed by my BSc Degree in Social Work Studies at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University (now Buckinghamshire New University) and completed Best Interest Assessor award (MSc) at Bournemouth University in 2016.

My specialist areas of interest include; multi-disciplinary work, safeguarding and adult learning. I enjoy learning about individual strengths and skills, and finding new ways to motivate and engage within my teaching role.

I am a registered social worker with Social Work England. I am an Associate Fellow of the HEA.
