Alessandro Anzelmo

Prior to joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2022, I have had a long and varied career in sports. My first BSc degree was in Sports Science (MMU). After a stint in Italy playing professional basketball, I returned to the UK and undertook a PGCE in Secondary Education (Brunel), followed by a BSc in Physiotherapy (Brunel), MSc in sports injuries and rehabilitation (MMU) and read for a PhD at Hertfordshire University.

I was on the GB Olympic medical team for 11 years and the Olympic physio committee for the same period. During this time, I worked with several teams/sports at various training camps and during competitions at World Championship, European Championship, Commonwealth & Olympic games. I was head physio and senior governing body physio for GB & NI Basketball from 1996-2006.

I am a member of FRSM, HCPC, SMA, ACSPSEM.

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with the Wembley medical team. I am lucky to have worked with numerous acts playing there such as The Rolling Stones, Lionel Richie, Janet Jackson, Disney on Ice and Smash Hits Awards. I have also worked with visiting NBA teams in Europe, and Cirque Du Soleil.
