Dr Ademola Adekunle is Senior Lecturer on the Physiotherapy programme at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU). His teaching portfolio includes research and evidence based practice. He contributes to the programme leadership as Personal Tutor Lead for the BSc and MSc Physiotherapy cluster and contributes to the University’s governance as Academic Representative on the BNU Senate.
Ademola completed PhD in Physiotherapy at University of Hertfordshire, and had his B.Sc Physiotherapy (Hons) from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed Master of Education, University of Lagos Nigeria and Master of Laws (LLM) at Nottingham Law School, with a thesis focused on corporate governance. He completed M Level Certificate in Evidence Based Healthcare at University of Oxford.
Ademola joined BNU in 2024. He has over 28 year’ experience including as Service lead in the National Health Service (NHS), private sector consultancy, Guest Lecturer (at London Metropolitan University), Principal Researcher (at Oxford Brookes University and University of Hertfordshire). Ademola’s experience spans across academia, research, and healthcare, also across jurisdictions; Nigeria, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, publishing in journals and with work presented at international conferences across Africa, Europe, and North America.
His clinical expertise includes complex case management, clinical governance, workforce development, and quality improvement. His research focuses on long-term respiratory condition management, health inequalities, and governance. Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, Ademola is recognized for translating research into measurable clinical impact. Notably, he led a service transformation in the NHS that reduced patient waiting times from 52 weeks to two weeks within six months.
Ademola’s doctoral training, legal expertise, and research leadership underpin his commitment to evidence-based practice, educational excellence, and impactful healthcare transformation. He is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
