Please note that the information below is regarding February 2024 graduation.

To find out the details of the ceremonies, please visit the dates and ceremonies page. This will provide you with information of when the ceremonies will be for each school.

Please ensure you are aware of all the deadlines you must adhere to in order to successfully attend your graduation ceremony. Information on these is available on the deadlines page.

Graduating students and their guests must all have booked and (where applicable) purchased tickets in order to attend. You or your guests cannot attend if you have not booked valid tickets. Please refer to the information on the your attendance and your guest tickets page for further information.

In order to attend your graduation ceremony, you must wear the appropriate academic dress. Your gown consists of a robe, hood and mortarboard (collectively we refer to as the gown). You cannot attend graduation without wearing your gown.

You will be able to have professional photographs taken on the day by our designated supplier, which we recommend you book in advance. Photos will also be taken of each graduand as they cross the stage. There will also be some pop up photography locations for you utilise yourself across campus.

For full detail on both gowns and photography, please visit the gown hire and photography page.

If you are studying at a BNU campus, please ensure you have put forward your nomination for your most inspiring tutor so staff can be recognised for their hard work. Some ceremonies will also have prizes that are awarded to students.

For details on how to nominate your most inspiring tutors and additional information on prizes, please refer to the staff and student prizes page.

If you are an overseas student and require a visa to enter the UK, or if you intend to invite guests from overseas who will need a visa to enter the UK, you will first need to ensure that you have registered your attendance and booked tickets for your guest(s). Once you have booked tickets, you will need to fully and accurately complete a visa support letter request form.

Please allow plenty of time for your visa request to be dealt with by the High Commission or British Embassy as in some cases it can take several weeks to process a visa application. We recommend you request this letter as soon as possible but please note we cannot guarantee the turnaround time of the High Commission or British Embassy. The University is not responsible for ensuring that your visas are sorted out in time for you and your guests to attend your graduation ceremony as this responsibility is with the graduating student.

For further details on visas, including accessing the visa support letter request, please review the information on the visas page.

If you (graduand) or your guests have any special access requirements, please provide this information when you register to attend your ceremony.

For any access requirements or requested support, a member of the Graduation Team may need to contact the graduating student for a further discussion so we can ensure we are able to put the most appropriate arrangements in place.

For further information, please refer to the additional support page.

After your graduation ceremony, everyone with a valid ticket is invited to an informal celebration as part of your graduation. Located in the Graduation Hospitality Zone at our High Wycombe Campus you will find refreshments to enjoy whilst you celebrate your success. Entry to this area is included with all tickets. You must have a ticket to gain entry and you cannot purchase a ticket just for this area.

To find out more about catering, please visit the catering page.

Your graduation day is likely to be a busy but exciting time. For information regarding how the day usually runs, please check out the on your graduation day page.
