Please note: We don’t recommend that students commit to more than 20 hours per week during term time. This can of course be extended outside of term time. Salaries vary from the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and upwards.
All of our courses encourage students to get involved with work experience and placements that are related to their chosen specialty area. For most students, this will happen outside of term-time, but some courses offer industry-based modules .
How you can get involved: We can help you make contact with our students for summer internships, placements, work shadowing or any other projects. If you’re not sure whether you should be paying your intern, visit Employment rights and pay for interns for guidance.
We work with academic colleagues to enhance opportunities for our students so they can better understand the workplace through projects and shadowing, and mentoring relationships.

Please note: We will not advertise unpaid opportunities that replace a paid position.
Volunteering is a great way for students to develop skills relevant to their course, or to work on their leadership skills and explore how to work in a team. Through their fundraising and volunteering, our students are making a great contribution to our local community.
To promote a volunteering opportunity and to find out more about what our students are up to, please contact the Buckinghamshire New University Students’ Union.
