Not quite ready to enter a full degree course? Why not consider a foundation year.
A foundation year helps you to develop new skills, increase your subject knowledge and enhance your confidence in degree-level learning. It’s also a great opportunity to get involved in activities to help you meet new people and settle into university life.
Designed to support you in starting your professional, managerial and technical careers quicker, we are offering you the opportunity to fast-track your foundation year, into just six months, starting in January and ending in July.
Upon successful completion, you are guaranteed a place for your chosen course in September.
The fast-track option is available on the following programmes:
- BA (Hons) Airline and Airport Management with International Foundation Year
- BA (Hons) Business Management with International Foundation Year
- BA (Hons) Events, Festivals and Venue Management with International Foundation Year
- BA (Hons) Public Health with International Foundation Year
- BSc (Hons) Computing with International Foundation Year
- BSc (Hons) Psychology with International Foundation Year
- BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy with International Foundation Year
Our foundation year programmes offer a cost effective option to international students.
International fees for academic year 2021-22:
- Year 0 (Foundation Year): £9,250
- Year 1: £13,750 - Scholarships on offer: Vice Chancellor’s International Student Scholarship
- Year 2 – 3: £13,750
Our International Foundation Programme offers a combination of academic subjects, English language and study skills. Led by our specialist course teams, you’ll study three modules - English for Academic and Professional Communication, Inquiry Based learning and then either Global Business and Management or Global Health and Wellbeing. You’ll also take part in a range of activities to help you to settle in.
Placements Plus University
We’re a Placements Plus university. So, whatever degree you do, you can be sure there’ll be plenty of industry-relevant opportunities on offer. We’ll help build the skills you need for your future career, including enhancing your communication and presentation skills and discovering more about team roles and leadership styles. You’ll also complete an Ethics in the Workplace mini project and Global Citizenship mini project.

Vice Chancellor’s International Student Scholarship
We understand that you may face challenges and we’re here to support you every step of the way. If you’re a self-funded International student paying overseas fees, you may qualify for a scholarship of £1,500 on your first year of study with us. You don’t need to complete an application form for this scholarship.
From societies, recreational activities and sports to volunteering, training, and great events, the Bucks Students’ Union has a lot to offer, and the majority of it is for free! That’s why we call it The Big Deal.

I didn’t feel my skills were ready to go straight into a degree. When I heard about the opportunity for a Foundation Year, I was keen to take advantage of it and get a head start. It’s been one of the best things I’ve done.
