Life in the School of Business and Law
We believe that university is all about you. The School of Business and Law is here to provide students with plenty of opportunities to prepare you for the working world, from working with businesses on live briefs, learning how to analyse and interpret financial data and drafting legal documents and arguments.
With our high lecturer to student ratio, we ensure that you are not just a face in the crowd. Studying in classes where you can create good relationships with your classmates and go to your lecturers with any questions ensure you will have the best experience inside and outside of the lecture theatre. Quite simply we want to provide you with every opportunity to make the most out of your time at university.
Every student’s day looks different depending on what degree they are studying, societies they participate in and personal study schedule they create. To give you an idea of a typical week a student will have at BNU here are example BNU Business School and Law timetables.
BNU is not just all work, our Student Union is rated in the top 5 in the UK* (National Student Survey, 2021). The Bucks Student Union is a vibrant social place where students across the University can socialise, undertake extra-curricular activities, try a new sport or just let off some steam. You can explore your passion for your subject at academic focused societies like Law, Mooting and ISR, meet new people at mixer events or show off your skills by playing a sport at varsity or leisure level.
Don’t just listen to us, our students have lots to say about being a BNU student and life in the School of Business and Law.

Once you become a part of Buckinghamshire New University you will always be in our family. We foster strong relationships with our students and even have our alumni back to deliver Q&As and guest lectures to our current students.
You can even hear from our alumni about their experiences at BNU and how it helped them build their current careers.
During his time at BNU, Harrison had the opportunity to take part in work-placement opportunities through his BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance course. He states this was great real-world experience and networking chance.
After graduating from her BA (Hons) Business Management degree, Emilia landed herself an amazing role as a HR Associate at Grünenthal Ltd. She mentions that in her current position she draws massively on the lessons she got taught at BNU.
