Tourism
A career in tourism is thriving, service-orientated and fast-paced, and a degree at Buckinghamshire New University offers you a compelling route into this sector. Drawing on our long-established industry links, our courses are designed with close involvement from experts in the field, so you can be sure of gaining just the right mix of theory and practice while studying with us.
We are constantly evolving what we teach, in line with the changes and challenges that come with working in the world of the tourism, to ensure our students graduate with the most up-to-date skills and inside knowledge, primed to enter employment. The career opportunities for graduates are endless – from joining an airline or tour operators, to working with tourism marketing agencies, or branching out to create your own tourism venture.
At Buckinghamshire New University, you will work with highly experienced teaching staff, who have hands-on sector knowledge and contacts, to gain a deep insight into international tourism and air travel. In addition, guest speakers often deliver sessions for students within the University to enrich their learning – in the past we've welcomed speakers from the likes of TUI and British Airways.
Whilst studying, we also offer work placement opportunities (which are often paid) and allow you to hone your skills, and make valuable connections for your future. Recent internships have been with TUI, Glastonbury and Wimbledon.
Our Tourism programmes are accredited by the prestigious Institute of Travel and Tourism, providing students with access to their networking and careers events.

I was able to enhance my career prospect through attending events at Heathrow Air Traffic Control tower, meeting the CEO of Qantas Airlines and the Communications Director of Boeing and attending parliamentary receptions at the House of Commons. I made a lot of professional connections that ultimately enhanced my employment potential.Molly-Jane Dane
