Centre for Intelligence, Security and Resilience

Times are changing and threats are ever-developing. This sector requires graduates with the confidence and up-to-date capabilities to thrive, plus a research base to shape effective responses and preventative solutions. Buckinghamshire New University has developed the Centre for Intelligence, Security & Resilience (BNU CISR) which combines a growing portfolio of programmes and courses with a desire to contribute to research.

Drawing upon experienced academics, industry and sector specialists, our courses allow you to orientate your learning towards the real-world issues facing your profession, whilst retaining the appropriate level of academic focus. Whether you have a desire to enter the sector or are already working in it and keen to develop your professional knowledge, experience and credibility, we have something that will suit your needs. The majority of our courses are distance learning, allowing you to fit your studies around existing work commitments. Our on campus undergraduate intelligence course is a great one for anyone who is curious and seeking a real-world focused and job-related programme.

Studying with us means you will learn with highly dedicated specialists who have been, or are still, intelligence, security and resilience practitioners. In addition, we have a network of industry and professional links, providing guest speakers who regularly deliver sessions to help provide the industry context and currency that are essential for education in a changing risk landscape. We are also proud of the fact that many of our team are military veterans.

Students are supported with state-of-the-art facilities on and off campus. Our library is the perfect place to find the resources you need and a quiet place to study, filled with four floors of books, journals, computer suites and study rooms – resources are also available digitally through our Virtual Learning Environment.

The quality of teaching is great and having lecturers with different backgrounds enables us to learn about a wide range of opportunities after graduation. We also attend one-to-one tutorials frequently where we can bring up any concerns and receive advice on coursework.
