Working as an Ambassador

When deciding on whether to become a Student Ambassador, please consider how you will manage this work alongside your degree – your studies must be your priority.

If you are an international student, you must also not exceed the number of hours stated on your BRP (Biometric Residence Permits) card, as students on a Student Visa are limited to certain time restrictions for the work that they do:

  • no more than 10 hours per week in term-time if your course is below degree level (e.g. a Foundation or Pre-Sessional course)
  • no more than 20 hours per week in term-time if your course is at degree level.

If it comes to our attention that you are exceeding the number of hours your visa allows you to work each week, we will pass this information on to the International Compliance Manager, who will report you to the UKVI and this could result in your sponsorship being withdrawn.

For the University to remain compliant, international students are only allowed to have one atypical role, so for example it is not possible to become a Student Ambassador and Digital Ambassador.
