Student Learning and Achievement

Student Learning and Achievement

We are the learning and academic development advice centre for all students at the University.

We work with students who are keen to develop their academic abilities and improve their grades, whatever their course, year, or ability level.

Much of our support is given in one-to-one tutorials, so we can tailor our input to the specific needs of individual students. We also work with small groups, run workshops and team teach with subject academics.

What can we do for you? We work with students on all aspects of their academic work and can help you get the most from your learning in a variety of ways. For example, we can advise you on:

  • effective note-making strategies;
  • research skills;
  • evidence-based academic writing (including referencing);
  • critical thinking;
  • getting the most from the feedback on your assignments.

We provide access to a range of online resources to support you in your learning. We offer support in numeracy, financial and statistical skills and can advise you on effective time and task management strategies. We also have expertise in supporting students whose first language is not English.
