We’re planning for a full return to face-to-face teaching from September 2021, in line with Government guidance. Find out more.

Graduation is a hugely important event in our university calendar, and we are committed to providing you with an opportunity to celebrate your achievements. We know you will be wondering what the Government’s plans for the easing of lockdown means for your graduation.

The Government’s COVID ‘roadmap’ gives hope that mass events may be able resume after 21June but this, of course, is dependent on many different factors, and is subject to potential change.

We have taken all aspects into account and have now reached a decision that we believe will provide the best celebration for you and your guests.

This year we are planning for two sets of Graduation ceremonies: for the Class of 2020 whose ceremonies were postponed last year due to the pandemic, and for this year’s graduates, the Class of 2021.  Please see details below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is part of the class of 2020?

If your cohort was eligible to attend the September 2020 ceremony which took place virtually, then you will be included as part of the class of 2020. This should include those who had their final year results considered and confirmed by a Board of Examiners between 1st September 2019 and 20th August 2020.

If you had your results initially considered by a Board of Examiners between the above dates and were referred, then receiving your actual award result between 20th August 2020 and 30th July 2021, then you are still classed as part of the class of 2020 and are eligible to attend the ceremony in September 2021 with the rest of your class.

Who is part of the class of 2021?

If your cohort went to/is scheduled to go to an exam board between 21st August 2020 -31st August 2021, then you will be eligible to attend graduation as part of the class of 2021 in October 2021.

The ceremony itself takes place at the Wycombe Swan Theatre in High Wycombe – which is across the road from the Campus.

How long will the ceremony last?

Approximately one hour.

Is there any parking?

There is no parking on campus but there are several public car parks nearby.

When do I receive my certificate?

This will be posted out to you in advance of the ceremony.

Registration and Attendance
Me and/or my guests I live overseas and require a Visa to visit the UK, how do I get a letter?

We can only issue the required letter once we have a confirmed booking for you or your guests. Therefore, we cannot issue the letter until we officially open for registration and ticket booking. Once you have registered yourself as attending and have booked guest tickets, you will be sent a confirmation that will contain a link to request a visa support letter.

I am not going to attend graduation so do I still need to register?

Yes. You do need to register your non-attendance as ‘in absentia’ so the University can arrange to send your certificate to you.

I don’t have my results yet; should I wait until I receive them before I register and purchase my guest tickets?

You are strongly advised to register and book your guest tickets as soon as possible. If you do not pass at the summer Boards you can apply for a refund for guest tickets booked as you will not be able to attend.

Can I attend if I have reassessment to take?

No. If you have not been made an award by the Board of Examiners you will not be able to graduate. In this event, a refund for guest tickets purchased will be made; however you must email the graduation team to request this refund. You will be invited to the next scheduled graduation event on the successful completion of your course.

Can I attend if I have an Academic Appeal in progress?

Yes. Provided that you have been made an award of the University by the Board of Examiners you can still graduate, even if you are in the process of making an academic appeal against your award.

How will I find out which day of the graduation week I am to attend?

We will let you know the exact date and time of your ceremony in due course. When you are given access to the ticket booking site it will also state the exact date and time of your ceremony. We will keep you updated with all the latest information on our website.

How do I know which ceremony I need to attend?

There is a general overview timetable showing the dates different Schools are holding their ceremony. If you don’t know which School you belong to then you can find out the date and time of your ceremony by logging into the booking system and the opening page will tell you which ceremony you have been allocated to.

How can I change my booking?

You can go back into your registration at any time to make amendments.
