Students explore the key areas of economics to understand and put into a business context its role within business, the UK and the wider global economy.

On our BA (Hons) Business Economics, you’ll learn how to apply economic theories and data handling skills to analyse real-world economic and business problems. Additionally, you will learn to construct arguments and effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences.

On graduating you’ll have a solid understanding and be able to effectively identify and assess the impact of public policy on industry and society, as well as diverse business issues such as digitisation and technological change, the development of market economies, and social inequality, as well as the implications post Brexit. You will have gained skills and knowledge that are attractive to a range of employers across both public and private sectors.

Our graduates pursue careers in a variety of business-related roles in private and public companies, government and non-governmental organisations, as well as smaller specialist businesses.

What will I study?

On this course you’ll learn about business and economics in an interconnected world, study contemporary issues affecting these fields and develop the professional skills you need for a successful career.

First year modules will provide you with a solid background in economics and management, while your second and final years provide some choice and flexibility, allowing you to tailor aspects of your degree and your assignments according to your interests and career ambitions.

You will graduate safe in the knowledge that you have the skills employers want.

How will I be taught and assessed?

All our academics who teach on the programme have a wide range of educational and professional experience and have extensive links with industry.

We also welcome a wealth of guest speakers; top professionals from across industry come to Buckinghamshire New University to help you understand how your degree applies to working in business, and how you can learn from their experiences.

You'll be assessed through essays, coursework assignments, individual and group research projects, exams and a final-year dissertation or project.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects and live briefs with students from other business management degree programmes, gaining the practical and transferable skills you need for your career.

What are the course entry requirements?

A typical offer will require a UCAS tariff score of: 80 - 104

A minimum of two full A-levels (or equivalent) is required. Every application is considered on an individual basis.
