Why study this subject?

Studying a dissertation module will help you develop your knowledge and understanding of a specialist area, relevant to your field of practice.

Why study at Buckinghamshire New University?

The module involves devising and undertaking a research project, producing work which provides a basis of innovation in your area of practice.

Previous learning from postgraduate diploma modules will help you to synthesise and evaluate knowledge at an advanced level, through the systematic investigation of a topic relevant to your workplace/professional practice.

You'll be guided to consider and submit, where appropriate, ethical applications to gain access to sources of investigation. You'll also use the skills of analysis and evaluation of research and the theoretical bases of the work.

You'll benefit from using our virtual learning environment as well as take part in lectures, seminars and supervision sessions.

This course is based out of our Uxbridge campus.

What will I study?

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • critically discuss the identification of a research topic which, where necessary, involves gaining ethics approval
  • systematically and creatively evaluate related literature to your chosen research area, identifying unique practice related insights into the cited literature
  • critically debate and analyse the justification of an appropriate methodology for your chosen research
  • critically evaluate the methods of collection and analysis of data/findings
  • draw conclusions from the research, demonstrating originality in the application of this knowledge and construct recommendations for future research or practice innovation.

Home and EU, Academic Year 2021 - 2022

£2,750

The University is unable to accept any new applications from students who require sponsorship for a student visa to start in September 2022. This is due to the overwhelming popularity of our courses and visa processing timeframes.  Applications are still being taken from students who are already in the UK and hold the right to study.

From September 2022, those students living in the UK or Republic of Ireland, and EU nationals with settled status in the UK, will be considered Home students.

Most courses will involve some additional costs that are not covered by your fees.

You could benefit from financial support through a bursary or scholarship during your time as a student. For more details visit our financial support, bursaries and scholarships section.
