The audio and music facilities at BNU have been designed to help you learn, create and reach your full potential in your chosen area.

Our state of the art recording studios give you access to the space and technology you need, from individual edit rooms up to large Pro Tools Ultimate studios with attached live rooms and vocal booths. We are extremely excited to be one of the few academic institutes in the UK that has a Dolby Atmos certified recording studio. It is a burgeoning technology, and the recent acquisition puts us in a prime position to teach our students about the latest innovative developments in the world of audio, which will better prepare them for new roles within the creative industries once they graduate.

• Studio 1 boasts a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 speaker system and an Avid S6 console. We are one of the first Universities in the UK to adopt Dolby Atmos into a music environment.
• Studio 2 features an Audient ASP8024 Mixing desk, with outboard equipment by Neve, Universal Audio, Teletronix, Focusrite, Tegler, Maag, Manley and others. It also has monitoring by Genelec and Adam Audio.
• Studio 3 is based around an Avid S4 control surface.
• The Electronic Music Studio is based around an AVID S3 surface and dock.
• The edit booths are equipped with microphone preamps from Digidesign (HD Omni).
• Our microphone stock includes Sennheiser, Neumann, AKG, Shure, Rode and Electrovoice.
• Studio monitoring includes 5.1 systems by Genelec and stereo systems by KRK.

All studios feature a full range of plug-ins including, but not limited to, the UAD plug-in suite, iZotope, Sound Toys, Ozone6, NI Komplete , Slate Trigger.

Students within the College of Creative Arts, Technology and Engineering taking relevant courses and/or modules also have access to thousands of royalty free sound effects (SFX) through Soundsnap to support their work.

Our impressive recording centre is comprised of four fully equipped control rooms plus two large, linked live rooms, as well as four live vocal / overdub booths.
