Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2019, I worked in a training General Practice for more than twenty years, starting as a Practice Nurse and then becoming an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and a Partner. During that time, I obtained my Nurse Prescribing qualification and my master’s degree and became a mentor for both student nurses and doctors.
I studied for my Nursing Degree at Thames Valley University and obtained my master’s at Reading University, which included nurse prescribing and the management of minor illnesses. I am also a qualified Diabetic Nurse Specialist and my specialist areas of interest are diabetes, minor illness and women’s health.
I am a member of The Royal College of Nursing and the Nursing and Midwifery Council as well as the Higher Education Authority.
My specialist knowledge has led to my involvement in developing the Diabetic Education Programme, XPERT, which is now running throughout the United Kingdom.
My greatest accolade to date is receiving a 1st Class Honours Degree in Nursing. As a result of this, I have had an amazing career within the NHS and still continue to work in Clinical Practice part-time.
