Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2020, I was the Textile Designer at Jasper Conran where I worked on over 30 catwalk collections for London Fashion Week. During my professional career I have specialised in designing textiles, embroidery, and embellishment for couture level garments.
After graduating from Brighton University, I spent the first ten years of my career working as a print designer. The experience and techniques of which are still an essential part of my working process. My lifelong interest in historical fashion has more recently led me to work on embroidery for film costumes, before starting my current role at BNU.
I am an Associate Fellow in the Higher Education Academy and dedicated to teaching both the theoretical and practical methods of costume. My aim is to provide students with experience of the wide breadth of specialisms within the costume industry and lay the foundations for students to pursue their own creative path.
A highlight of my career was creating the textiles for The Royal House of Opera’s ballet production of ‘Within the Golden Hour’, designed by Jasper Conran.
