Rosie Williams

Hello! I joined BNU in 2022 as a technical demonstrator for the fashion and costume courses. By trade, I’m a designer/ pattern cutter with over 30 years of experience in the fashion, film and theatre industries, and I love sharing this experience with the new generations of aspiring designers here at BNU.

As a student, I learnt my craft in my native Australia – I have an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Technology and Diploma in Costume Construction from the iconic East Sydney Technical College. I began my career working in fashion studios across Sydney and London supplying stores such as David Jones, Target, Grace Bros (in Australia), Top Shop (RIPL), Miss Selfridge and Bay Trading Company.

From here, I stepped out on my own as a freelance pattern cutter and was fortunate enough to work my way into Australia’s film and theatre industry. Some of my highlights include creating costumes for The Matrix, Superman Returns and Jim Henson’s ‘Farscape Series’ (although the last one might also be because they had the best catering). I was then headhunted for the Sydney Theatre Company as a full-time member, creating costumes for some of Australia’s finest actors (you know who they are!), so I’ve had a wonderful ride so far.
