Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2017, I was a programmer in the travel industry and independent game developer by night, founding my own company in 2014.

I completed my BSc (Hons) Degree in Games Development at Bucks New University, which is linked to my continuing love of technical games design and programming. Games have been my lifelong passion, and I feel privileged to be a part of the global games community at a time when the industry is at its highest ever levels of creativity, inclusivity and financial value.

The University is a member of TIGA (The Independent Game Developers’ Association). As part of our games courses, we incorporate industry-relevant technology and content in our curriculum, with contributions from Microsoft, Sony, Nvidia, Adobe, Autocad and Unity. I consider staying connected with current developments in the industry as being crucially important. A highlight for me was visiting the London Microsoft campus for a conference on AR technology, and getting to hear about the Xbox Series X before all of you!

My specialist knowledge has led me to work with the game development industry and community such as Toxic Games, Attic Door Productions, and my own fledgling studio – Winwood Labs on projects such as Technology: The Game (Mobile, 2017), The 13th Doll (PC and Mac OS, 2019) and Kvelertak: Game of Doom (Mobile, 2020).

Since joining Buckinghamshire New University, I have also had the privilege of working with several academic innovation bodies, most notably Study Higher, with whom I developed the Simulate Your Future project; an immersive AR experience using a custom built, mobile simulation room. The project now tours the country visiting schools and colleges using this new technology to give students an immersive and engaging look at their potential future career paths such as medicine, games development and policing. The project won Best in Show at a 2019 Trade Show.
