Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2021, I was working as a lecturer in further education; teaching a variety of modules in Health Science during which I completed a qualification in Teaching.

Prior to this, I was working as a Specialist Community Nurse, caring for children with varied chronic and complex health needs in the community. During this time, I was able to be part of team that changed how children with palliative care needs were looked after and advanced certain treatments that were able to be given at home. This allowed families to be at home together more, and less frequent visits to hospital. I was also able to drive a 'rapid response team' within the community as well as offering a variety of nursing clinics.

I studied for my Nursing Degree at Buckinghamshire University and then my specialist Community Nursing Degree at Hertfordshire University. I have also attended East Anglia University to complete Specialist Palliative Care and Oncology programmes.

I have a keen interest in Oncology and Palliative care as well as Juvenile Idiopathies Arthritis. I have spent most of my nursing career pursuing more localised care for these children and their families, as well as setting up support groups after researching how to improve their quality of care and day-to-day life.
