Biography

Before I joined Buckinghamshire New University in 2010, I worked as Practice Educator in West London Mental Health Services. I assisted in optimising learning experiences for the students and staff within their placements. I worked jointly with academic staff from two universities in developing, enhancing and implementing quality standards to improve the learning environments for student nurses on clinical placements, supporting the mentors in their role of assessing students, and contributed to the delivery of mental health nursing curriculum at both universities.

After I qualified as a nurse both in adult and mental health nursing, I have held various positions namely ward manager, senior nurse, locality manager, lead nurse and practice educator.

I have worked at Buckinghamshire New University for 10 years as a senior lecturer, teaching at different levels from certificate to master’s levels in a number of modules.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a senior lecturer in the faculty of health, with a master’s and Post Graduate Diploma in Higher Education with NMC Level one and a certificate in Management Studies.

My specialist area of interest/research is ‘The relationship between physical health and mental health’. I am a member of HEA, Royal College of Nursing, Nursing and Midwifery Council. I am also very keen on coaching people and provide separate sessions in both academia and practice.
