Staff Profile

Dr Julia Robertson
Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2004, I worked in international sales and property investment.
I studied for my Masters Degree at Edinburgh University and my PhD, on Intra Sex Difference in Mating Strategies (taking an evolutionary perspective) at Brunel University. My specialist area of interest and research is in Evolutionary Psychology, a fascinating area because it helps us to appreciate how and why we, as Homo sapiens, have evolved to behave, think and feel the way they do.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
My specialist knowledge has led me to work with the BBC, the Science Museum and the NHS on a variety of projects, and probably my career highlight to date would be the publication of my first book, ‘An A-Z of Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology’, alongside my colleague, Dr Barbara Kingsley.
