Biography
  • Before joining Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) in 2015, I was an anaesthetic and scrub practitioner at an NHS trust within the Thames Valley Region. However, I quickly found my true passion was in the surgical role and took up a full time position in the orthopaedic scrub team. I progressed to become a team leader for trauma and orthopaedics and further specialised in upper limb surgery, overseeing this aspect of service delivery.

Since studying for my registerable qualification (DipHe Operating Department Practice), I have undertaken further study achieving my BSc (Hons), PGCAP and APA. My specialist areas of interest are in a wide range of surgical specialities and I have also developed and lead on our post-registration surgical first assistant module here at BNU. I have keen scholarly interests in leadership, mental health/wellbeing, and autism spectrum disorder; I am a strong advocate of a holistic, patient centred approach to care.

I am registered with the HCPC as an Operating Department Practitioner, I also hold fellowship with AdvanceHE (FHEA).

Alongside teaching and supporting students on their pre-registration journey to becoming an ODP, I have presented at both local and national conferences.
