Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2013, I was a police officer for 30 years, with Thames Valley Police, working in a variety of roles including operational policing, operational planning, training delivery and assessment, and organisational development.

Since working at the University, I have delivered undergraduate and graduate teaching to students; led on the development of, and introduction of the Police Entry Qualifications delivered in partnership with Thames Valley Police; and delivered initial police officer teaching for Thames Valley Police recruits. I was also involved with colleagues from other universities and the College of Policing, to develop the entry routes into policing at constable rank.

I studied for my degree with the Open University (BSc (Hons) Open); a Management Diploma (DMS) (Reading University Business School); a Diploma in Business Continuity (Buckinghamshire New University); a PGC in the Psychology of Organisational Development and Change Management (Heriot-Watt University; a PGC in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (Buckinghamshire New University).

I am currently undertaking research for my PhD relating to the introduction of the new entry routes into policing, at constable rank.

I am a member of the following professional bodies; Advance HE (FHEA); Associate Member of the CIPD (Assoc CIPD); Chartered Institute of Management (MCMI); Diploma Member of the BCI (DBCI); Member of the Society of Evidence-based Policing.
