I am a registered adult nurse and hold the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse qualification in Health Visiting along with the V100 Community Nurse Prescribing Qualification. I gained extensive experience in paediatrics before undertaking the SCPHN course in 1987. Since that time, I have worked as a health visitor, a locality manager and a strategic board nurse in South Buckinghamshire and South Devon. Since 2014 I have been a Senior Lecturer in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing- HV at Buckinghamshire New University.
I became a member of the United Kingdom Standing Conference of Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Education in 2014 which discusses and influences Government Policies. In 2015 I became a Queens Nurse and attend QN meetings regularly to network, to share good practice and understand the roles of other QNs working in a range of different communities. In 2017 I became an external examiner for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse courses at The University of Southampton which has enhanced practice, understanding and networking linked to SCPHN practice and education.
My recent focus has been on helping to develop the next generation of potential health workers who are studying at Buckinghamshire new university. Enabling individuals who have a passion and interest for working with others to become nurses, health and community workers is a real joy and privilege.
