As an Associate Lecturer, I continue to work in the broadcast industry as a technical supervisor in the sports and parliamentary studios of a major UK satellite broadcaster. This is invaluable in keeping my craft skills and knowledge aligned with current industry practice.
I was trained as a broadcast engineer by the BBC, then spent thirty years working on outside broadcasts as an engineer, vision supervisor and unit manager. I worked across all genres including location drama, religious broadcasting, music and arts, entertainment, sport and national events. I additionally managed crew and emerging technology operations and took part in the selection of entry-level technical staff.
My programme credits include Live Aid, Glastonbury and Reading Festivals, The Proms, Antiques Roadshow, The One Show, 1992 and 2000 Summer Olympics plus numerous FA Cup Finals, Wimbledon Tennis and Open Golf Championships.
I am a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
