Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2011, I was a Programme Manger at an FE College with responsibilities for students studying on Early Years courses from Level 1 through to BA (Hons). Prior to this, I had my own nursery school for ten years, after working as a family liaison officer as part of my teaching role within a primary school.

I studied for my MA in Early Childhood Education at The University of Sheffield and my specialist areas of interest are the importance of play to children’s learning and development and the professional development of those working in Early Years and Primary Education. I find it fascinating to share practice and ongoing research with colleagues in the education profession.

I am a member of the Association for Professional Development in Early Years (TACTYC) and the Sector Endorsed Foundation Degree in Early Years network (SEFDEY).

My career highlight to date is receiving the Student Union Award for ‘Excellence and Innovation in Learning and Teaching’.
