Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University, I worked with West Yorkshire Police for over thirty years in a policing capacity. I worked in many frontline and support roles, including various training roles, when I also studied for my undergraduate degree in Education and Training. I was seconded to the College of Policing as the first National Training Co-ordinator for Mainstream Cyber Crime. I also worked as part of the College of Policing Immersive Learning team, developing, and delivering a range of leadership, multi-agency and specialist exercises across the UK, including Northern Ireland. These included Multi-agency Gold Incident Command, CHANNEL (Counter Terrorism), Multi-Agency Critical Incident Exercise and local resilience forums. After leaving the Police, I pursued my dream to work around aircraft and spent three years working as a Dispatcher/Turnaround Coordinator at Gatwick Airport.

I am a member of the Society for Evidence Based Policing and the Association for Learning Technology. I am also a former Army Reservist (Royal Military Police / Royal Logistics Corps).

My specialist knowledge has led me to work as an Associate for the College of Policing Direct Entry Team, the Assessments team and the Immersive Learning team.

I am the Subject Lead for Intelligence, Security and Resilience (in the Centre for Intelligence, Security & Resilience) and temporary Deputy Head of School in the School of Aviation & Security.

Outside of work I volunteer as a speaker for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and have clocked up 25 years as a volunteer at the Royal International Air Tattoo.
