Biography

Before joining Buckinghamshire New University in 2021, I was a cardiology nurse working in Cardiovascular Services at St. Thomas Hospital, London. Prior to this, I worked in an Acute Medical Unit at Kings College Hospital London. Having gained experience in clinical practice, I decided to go into education in 2021.

I studied for my BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing at Middlesex University and my MSc. in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Healthcare at Imperial College. My specialist area of interest/research is Open Heart Surgery. It is interesting because I had to examine 8 different types of cardiac surgery to determine the incidence and consequences of Phrenic Nerve Injury following these cardiac surgeries. It signposts doctors and nurses to closely monitor patients post cardiac surgery for early recognition of signs of Phrenic Nerve Injury in order to commence prompt treatment to reduce or prevent respiratory depression and morbidity.

I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, United Kingdom. I am a registered member of the British Thoracic Society and European Respiratory Society.

I am a cardiac and respiratory specialist nurse and my specialist knowledge has enabled me to care for the acutely ill, deteriorating patients and individuals with cardiac related problems such as arrhythmias, heart failure and patients who had cardiac surgery.

My career highlight to date is my ongoing role as a lecturer to improve teaching standard in order to maintain quality assurance.
