Exchange from Bucks

If you are interested in an academic exchange from Bucks to another institution in Europe or overseas please find information on the application process below. Forms need to be completed and returned electronically to the International Office at international.administration@bucks.ac.uk.

Study Abroad Registration Form (European and overseas exchange)
All students wishing to go on an exchange have to fill in the Study Abroad Registration Form as the data provided on this will act as the basis for the study exchange. The registration form should only be filled in after having carefully read about the exchange programme and after having chosen two possible destinations from the partner list.

Once completed, return the form to the International Office by email to international.administration@bucks.ac.uk. Please note that places at specific partner institutions are limited. Every effort will be made to enable students to go to their first choice; however in some cases it might be necessary to find an alternative institution.

Once your Study Abroad Registration Form is accepted, you will have to complete the partner institution's application form. You may also be required to produce additional documents such as transcripts of records, copies of your passport and accommodation contracts. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance cover, e.g. health/liability/possessions insurance, for your time on exchange.

Should you need a visa for the country you want to go study in, please contact our International Office for further guidance. You should also contact the relevant student finance company to inform them that you are planning to study abroad. Additional paperwork might be required so you are advised to make enquiries early on.

Learning Agreement Form (European and overseas exchange)
This form is a vital document for all outgoing exchange students as it constitutes the agreement between Bucks, yourself and the partner institution regarding the modules you will be studying while being abroad. The learning agreement has to be signed by all three parties and a copy will be kept at Bucks. Under no circumstances will you be allowed to change the modules on the learning agreement without prior permission from Buckinghamshire New University.

To choose the modules you will be studying abroad, we will try and match as closely as possible what you would have studied if you were still at Bucks. Where this is not possible, we will try to find relevant alternatives. Please note that partners might only offer exchange students a limited selection of modules and may have their own rules concerning modules their incoming exchange students have to study.

You will be able to obtain this document from partner institutions as necessary.

Student Mobility Contract (European exchange only)
The student mobility contract is the basis for every European Erasmus Exchange. It sets out your rights and responsibilities under the Erasmus Programme. Fully completed contracts will be necessary for all students selected to receive an Erasmus grant.

Payment Details (European exchange only)
You will be required to provide us with your UK bank account details in order to receive an Erasmus grant. Your first grant payment will be two thirds of the total, the remainder being paid at the end of your study abroad period, subject to supplying student reports and a stamped and signed certificate of attendance.

Erasmus Student Charter (European exchange only)

You will be issued with an Erasmus Student Charter which sets out your rights and responsibilities under the Erasmus Programme.
