Nights out
The Students’ Union runs the area’s premier entertainments venue and has recently achieved the “Best Bar None” standard for the third successive year, this time reaching Gold Award Standard, maintaining our reputation as being the safest night out for students in town. We also achieved Silver Standard accreditation under the Sound Environmental Impact scheme. This ethical and environmental standard assesses students’ union who have achieved good standards working towards reducing energy consumption and waste.
Bucks Students’ Union runs The Venue, a student focussed social space comprising The White Room and The Lounge. The Venue is a 1,100 capacity club with an extremely good value bar in the centre of our High Wycombe Campus, with plasma screens, a pool table and free Wi-Fi internet access it provides students with excellent cafe and social facilities by day and a state-of-the-art clubbing experience by night.
Bands
If you are into the live music scene then there are weekly live music events at the High Wycombe venue providing showcases for local and student talent, plus monthly gigs with national touring artists.
Murray Christmas: “My best experience was probably going to the Students’ Union, the bands that we have and the nightlife - that was a good part of it. If there was a single experience, probably seeing the King Blues playing here, that was very good!”
Party nights
Those who like to party are well looked after at the SU venue with successful nights like the FRAT House and Flirt! which is a national student club/party night that features different themed nights, fancy dress and great bar promotions.
Alexander Thomas said; "I was down the Union pretty much every Friday night; we had free entry with the Big Deal, it was a really friendly place – you make friends really easily down there! The SU had an Inbetweeners night, which was great. I got up on the stage and got to meet Simon and Carly! There was a hot-tub party too! I really liked the take-overs where the societies came to the event, those are pretty fun. I think the Halloween party is one of the highlights too.”

Comedy
Every fortnight the SU runs a comedy club where we have had acts like Rufus Hound, Stephen K Amos and Miles Jupp. The club features lots of other high profile acts from the comedy circuit.
Steven Greenwood said, "I attended some really big gigs and big named acts like The Automatic at the SU and I am a big fan of stand-up comedy, so I was there pretty much every week it was on for that too. Having the calibre of comedians, even some off the TV come in for free was incredible – I even paid to see some of them at the Town Hall after seeing them at the SU! Considering it was free the SU was an incredible experience!”
