Student Enterprise is part of the Student Experience Directorate at Bucks and promotes and encourages students to get involved with other like-minded students and local businesses to drive forward ideas and initiatives to benefit their future.
The events calendar begins with the
Enterprise Festival and continues with a host of
events, speakers and competitions throughout the year.
Students can join the enterprise community to keep up-to-date with the latest news and gain ideas and feedback from other students and lecturers by joining the Enterprise Bucks website, at
www.enterprisebucks.co.uk. It is a great way to meet other people, gain invaluable experience and boost your CV!
The latest Enterprise Festival took place just weeks before Global Entrepreneurship Week and featured a succession of high-profile speakers and days themed to provide students with skills vital for their future careers and businesses.
Entrants to the Enterprise Challenge were invited to work as individuals or in a team of up to six people on enterprising ideas in the areas of new products, social enterprises, digital work, job creation and money-making, with the various winning teams and individuals sharing a prize fund totalling more than £2,000.
Along with the Enterprise Festival, prizes are also available in the ‘
Creative Talent Showcase’, which has its own gala evening at the Arts4Every1 Centre on Friday 16th March 2012. There are two categories,
- Visual, which can be a piece of Art, Creative Writing, Product or Graphic Design
- Performance, which can be a piece of music, Dance-performance, Drama, Film-animation or Motion Graphics.
The Application Form and competition brief can be downloaded at
www.enterprisebucks.co.uk. The closing date for the competition is Friday 27th January 2012.
Students can also get involved with the ‘Bucks Innovation Lab’, which is aimed at helping students nurture and develop bright ideas into business opportunities, thanks to mentoring support from business figures.
