Student writing in exam
If you have fulfilled the work and attendance regulations prescribed for your programme of study and have been allowed to sit University examinations it is important that you read the following rules of conduct.

If you are at an examination and you realise that you have failed to comply with any of these rules, or have any questions, you should contact an invigilator immediately. Students failing to do this, when knowingly breaking examination regulations, may face disciplinary action.

For all exams, please remember you should arrive at the exam venue at least 15 minutes before the exam is timetabled to start. Allow time to travel to the venue.

If you have any queries with regard to examination timetables, please consult your faculty office in the first instance. If you have any other questions or require the information in a different format please please email exams@bucks.ac.uk.

If you are registered with the Disability Service for reasonable adjustments will receive notification of arrangements in the post or by email, your faculty office will also hold the details. You must confirm the arrangements or inform the exams team of any changes required.

Students with separate arrangements who choose to take an exam in the main room will forfeit access to the alternative arrangements set up.

Please remember
  • Before taking any formal examination you will need to produce your valid student ID card. Your identity will be checked before each exam.
  • The regulations for the conduct and invigilation of examinations are displayed outside all Examinations Rooms and it is each student's individual responsibility to ensure they are familiar with and comply with these rules and regulations.
  • No unauthorised materials will be allowed into the examination room: if you take unauthorised materials into the Examination Room this constitutes cheating.
  • Electronic communication devices (including mobile phones, mp3/4 players, PDAs, laptops, pagers etc) are not permitted in examinations.
  • If you do enter an examination room with any other personal belongings you will be required to leave outside for the duration of the examination.
Please note that we cannot provide safe storage for personal belongings that have been taken to examinations.  You will normally be asked to leave coats and bags outside the examination room. The University cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage of personal belongings.

If you consider your performance in an assessment or an examination to have been affected by illness or other personal unforeseen circumstances you can request that a Board of Examiners take this into consideration when making their recommendation on your performance. If you wish to do this you must submit the appropriate form which you can collect from your faculty registrar, together with any supporting documentary evidence, to your faculty within 10 working days of the event for which they are claimed.
