Institute of Applied Leadership (INSTAL)
The Institute of Applied Leadership (INSTAL) was set up by the University to promote and support professional development within the public, private and third sectors. Its vision is to develop the capabilities of people in organisations to manage, to lead and to learn.
INSTAL seeks to achieve this vision by working with people and organisations to create practical solutions to those problems and issues which have been identified as significant. INSTAL’s approach emphasises co-operation and the co-design of solutions and approaches, rather than the application of pre-existing solutions. INSTAL works alongside individuals, groups and organisations in order to diagnose situations and then to develop and implement customised solutions.
In addition INSTAL runs workshops – in half-, full- and two-day formats – focusing on topics such as:
INSTAL is committed to developing its capacity to learn and rigorously evaluates its activities in order to inform and improve its existing provision, and to respond better to the needs of those with whom it works. You can see details of our current news and events here.
A programme of existing provision can be obtained from the INSTAL Office, details of which appear below. The programme of activities for the period autumn 2012 to summer 2013 is currently in preparation.
