Frequently Asked Questions

Please be aware that if your interview is for a course run by our partner college, these FAQ’s will not necessarily all apply. For further information, you will need to contact our partner college that run the course you have applied for.  Pleas refer to our travel information page for their contact details.

How much notice will I be given about my interview?
You will be given at least 2 weeks’ notice of your interview time and date.

How will I be notified of my interview?
You will be notified via UCAS Track of your allocated interview date and time and be sent an e-mail invitation with full details (including how to prepare, where to go etc). For nursing selection days you will be sent further information in the post as there is a registration form that you will need to complete prior to your arrival on the day.

The Admissions Teams will make contact by email so please check your junk inbox as well as your main inbox. The contact e-mail addresses for the Admissions Teams are admissions@bucks.ac.uk and uxbridgeadmissions@bucks.ac.uk.

You will need to confirm your attendance through your UCAS Track as well responding via email.

I’m unable to attend the interview slot I’ve been given, am I able to change this?
For all our courses we will do our best to allow you to have two reschedules (so a maximum of three interview dates). To request an new interview date, please do this by replying back to the invite on UCAS Track as well as replying to the e-mail.

The Admissions Team will allocate appointments on current availability. As we are only able to reschedule your appointment a maximum of twice, we cannot guarantee that we will have available space on alternative interview days. If we are unable to reschedule your date then we can place your request on a waiting list until a new date becomes available. Please try your best to attend the interview that you are allocated as you will not be able to be considered for some of our courses without an interview.

What time should I arrive?
Please ensure that you arrive at least 15 minutes before your allocated interview time. All of our interviews run on a tight schedule so it is important you do not arrive after your given time otherwise we may not be able to interview you.

Upon arrival at the University, please report to the Gateway reception for the High Wycombe Campus and the main reception for the Uxbridge Campus. Please inform reception of your interview when you arrive and they will be able to guide you to where you need to go.

I’m going to be late for my interview, what should I do
?
If you are running late, you will need to contact us immediately so that we can see if there is a later interview slot available. If this is not possible, then we would reschedule your interview for an alternative date. For all our courses we will do our best to allow you to have two reschedules (so a maximum of three interview dates). Unfortunately this is not guaranteed and we will only be able to reschedule your interview if we have dates available.

If you are running late for the Nursing Selection day we may be able to reschedule you for an alternative date as we have selection events almost every week. You can request this by calling 01494 603 172 or you can email uxbridgeadmissions@bucks.ac.uk. If you are going to be few minutes late we may request that you stay longer to complete any missed assessments.

If you are coming for an interview at our High Wycombe campus, please call 01494 605 060 and select option 2 for Admissions.

If you are coming for an interview at our Uxbridge campus, please call 01494 603 172.

How long will the interview take?
The length of an interview varies from course to course. If we know how long your interview slot will be, then you will be given this information in the e-mail informing you of your interview.

If your interview is for Nursing, then you will either be allocated a morning or an afternoon session. The morning selection event is normally scheduled from 8:45am to 1pm and the afternoon selection event is normally scheduled from 12:45pm till 5pm.

If your interview is for Social Work, then the selection day will run from 08:45am till 5:00pm at the latest. You may be able to finish earlier if you have an earlier interview time, but your exact finishing time will not be known until the day. Early interview slots for Social Work are available, but they are limited and you should contact us in advance to request one. Please e-mail admissions@bucks.ac.uk if you would like to request an earlier interview slot. As we cannot guarantee that an earlier interview slot will be available, you should plan to be at Bucks until 5pm.

Will I be studying at the same campus where I go for my interview?
Yes, you will be studying at the same campus where your interview is held. This is to allow you to get an idea of the campus and its facilities to give you an idea of what studying at Bucks could be like.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Can I bring anyone with me?
You can bring a guest with you to your interview or selection day. However, they will not be able to come with you to the actual interview/audition. Refreshments are available at three of our restaurants and cafes at the High Wycombe Campus and the Pulse restaurant at the Uxbridge campus and your guests are welcome to wait for you there. Your guests are welcome to attend campus tours and course presentations.

If you are booking onto the campus tour, please ensure you mention how many guests will be joining you on the day.

What should I wear?
Formal attire is not required for an interview but we would recommend that you dress appropriately for the interview you are attending as well as ensuring that you are comfortable.

If you are attending an interview with an audition element, please ensure that you are wearing appropriate clothing and footwear to allow you to perform the practical element of your audition.

I require additional assistance on the day of my interview, what should I do?
Please contact us well in advance to inform us of any additional assistance you may require so that we can arrange to support you on your interview/selection day. If we cannot arrange the required support in time, we may need to reschedule your interview to allow more time to coordinate what is required.

If you have an interview for BSc or MSc Social Work and you have dyslexia, please send us a copy of your official assessment (if you have one) 14 days before your interview.

If you have an invitation for the Nursing selection event and have disclosed dyslexia in your acceptance slip, please bring a copy of your official assessment and let us know in advance if you need additional time or support for your assessments.

Will I be able to park on campus?
There is no parking on campus for those attending an interview unless you are a blue badge holder.

If you are a blue badge holder and are attending an interview at our High Wycombe campus, please contact us at least three days in advance of your interview day with your car details (make, model, colour and registration). This will allow us to book your car in on campus. Upon arrival, please enter the campus via entrance A and pull in at the short stay bays by reception. You will need to go to reception to sign your car onto campus, collect a parking permit (this must be displayed in your car at all times to avoid a ticket) and be directed to a parking space.

If you are invited to an interview or selection event at the Uxbridge campus and you are a blue badge holder, or if you require information regarding local parking please contact the Uxbridge Admissions Team on 01494 603 172.

Please refer to the visiting us section of our website for further details on travelling to Bucks and to view the campus maps.

What happens if I am not currently living in the UK? Will I still be expected to attend an interview?

For most interview courses, we can make alternative arrangements for those applicants living outside the UK. This will include you providing supporting documents electronically and could include an interview by telephone and/or Skype facilities. Please ensure you contact us immediately to request this so that we can make the necessary arrangements. Please note that all documents and contact details must be received and finalised at least one week before your agreed interview.

If you live outside the UK but would like to attend an interview in person, we are more than happy to book you on to one of our allocated interview days. If you can attend your allocated interview date and time, please let us know we are expecting you in person. If you need an alternative date, then we can offer you a maximum of two reschedules as long as we have availability.

If you have applied for a pre qualification nursing (BSc (Hons) or Postgraduate Diploma) course you will need to attend a selection day at the Uxbridge campus. Please indicate the dates that you will be in the UK on your UCAS form or call the Uxbridge Admissions Team on (+44 00) 01494 603172 or email uxbridgeadmissions@bucks.ac.uk. Selection days are scheduled almost weekly so the option of a preferred date could be possible.

The High Wycombe campus is a 40 minute bus ride away from Heathrow Airport and the Uxbridge campus is only a short 10 minute bus ride away.

How long will it take for a decision to be made on my interview?
We will aim to have interview decisions made within two weeks of your interview. Please note that this turnaround time is not guaranteed as other requirements may require a longer period.

If you are not able to provide all of the required information for your interview or selection event, then you may be required to provide this information before a final decision can be made.

How do I find out the outcome of the interview?
Once a decision is made following your interview, this will be uploaded onto your UCAS Track. UCAS will contact you to inform you that a decision has been made on your UCAS Track so you will know to log on.

If you have not applied through UCAS you will receive your decision by post.

If you have been made an offer (either conditional or unconditional), then you will receive an offer letter by post. For conditional offers, the conditions will be uploaded onto UCAS Track for you to view. If you have not applied through UCAS you will receive your conditional offer decision by post.

If you have been unsuccessful, then a reason will also be uploaded onto UCAS Track. In some instances further feedback can be required but please note this is not guaranteed.
