National School of Furniture

The fundamental aim of the new  National School of Furniture (NSF) is to inspire people about the furniture industry and to enable them to find out about all the career options available within this diverse and exciting subject specialism.

It is intended to support education and industry in this country by maintaining high standards of teaching and training in the sector by connecting education to the furniture industry, be it through collaborative projects with schools, apprenticeship schemes, internships or graduate employment.

We offer a variety of options for school learners at level one and school leavers at levels two, three and four through to college and university leavers at levels six to eight. Students can choose to study from a diverse range of courses, including short skills based training, bespoke industry courses, apprenticeships, leisure courses, diplomas as well as more traditional undergraduate, foundation and master’s degree courses. PhD courses of study are also available.

We would like to offer school teachers, Heads of Departments, pupils and parents the opportunity to visit us to investigate how we might inspire people to consider furniture courses which lead to a career in the industry as designers, makers, upholsterers, retailers and craftsmen and women. Where the National Curriculum includes furniture projects, we can offer bespoke additional support on site in your school to suit your needs.
