School of Social Sciences, Primary Care & Education

The School of Social Sciences, Primary Care and Education offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, diplomas, short courses and study days which support the preparation and development of the workforce in the public, independent and voluntary sectors, including:

• Social Work
• Policing
• Criminology
• Psychology
• Primary Care
• Public Health
• Mental Health
• Children's Workforce
• Further and Higher Education.

The majority of the courses offered in the School are professionally accredited, approved and regulated by bodies such as the General Social Care Council, the Nursing & Midwifery Council, the British Psychological Society, Life Long Learning UK, and the Higher Education Academy.

The courses within the School are taught by a range of academics, many of whom have moved from senior professional practice posts to support the development of the workforce from an academic setting. We pride ourselves in keeping in close contact with the practice environment and we work with prospective employers to ensure that our courses are entirely focused on and relevant to supporting evidence based practice and the development of a highly skilled and competent workforce.

We are always seeking new opportunities to help support workforce and skills development and we welcome invitations to work in partnership with the primary care, policing, public health, education and social care sectors to create innovate and stimulating programmes to support staff working in such environments to deliver a service of the highest standard and quality.
