This programme aims to provide students with advanced analytical
and critical skills together with an in-depth understanding of the
current management and operational issues in the air transport
industry. It is delivered by experienced tutors, most of whom have
recent airline industry management experience in addition to their
academic qualifications.
The programme may appeal to a variety of students from different
backgrounds. Firstly, it serves the needs of people employed in the
airline industry, for example as pilots, who wish to broaden their
industry knowledge and management skills with a view to enhancing
their career prospects. Secondly, the programme may appeal to
people with general management experience who are interested in
moving into the airline industry. Thirdly, recent graduates of
related undergraduate programmes might benefit from studying this
course, in preparation for a career in aviation management.
The course is delivered in three stages:

Strategic Marketing for the Aviation Industry
Environmental Management for Aviation
Aviation Safety and Security
Subjects studied in the second stage include:
Strategic Leadership and Management in the Aviation Industry
Financial Management in the Aviation Industry
Ancillary Revenues
Aviation Disaster Management
In the third stage students are required to undertake a
dissertation, which is supported by a module in research methods.
Students may exit the course at any of the three stages and receive
a PGCert, PGDip or MSc accordingly.
This course provides substantive experience and a broad
knowledge of the air industry, making you highly employable in the
aviation and tourism industries. It is ideal for those with
ambitions to move into positions of responsibility and management
within the operations or marketing areas of air transport.
