Living Costs
Most students receive financial help from student loans to cover
their living costs. If you would like to apply for a loan, you will
need to do so at the same time that you are applying for support
towards your tuition fees.
Approximately 72% of the maximum loan will be available to all
students, with the remaining 28% being means-tested. In the 2010/11
academic year the maximum annual loan available is
£4,950 for students living away from home and
£3,838 for students living at home.
Student loans are repayable when you
begin earning over £15,000 per annum.
Student Finance England may give you
further financial assistance if any of the following apply:
- You have dependents
- You will be a lone parent student
- You are a student with disabilities
- You are a student in care
You can also apply to the University
for financial assistance through the Access to
Learning Fund.
